The Memphis Music Foundation, in partnership with the Hi Tone and Rock 103 is welcoming back Martin Atkins for a Backstage Pass Event! Here’s the deal. Are you pushing a bolder up hill trying to get people to notice you and your music in a ocean of other artists doing the same? You know your music deserves to be heard but want to push ahead of the pack? Come hear Martin Atkins. Mr. Atkins has become the guru on marketing and promotion for artists. He’s an artist himself. In fact you may know a few of the bands he has been a part of Murder Inc, Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Pigface. Although his experience is more on the electronica infused metal side, his suggestions carry over to all music genres. In the past we have had Martin led a workshop based on his best selling book Tour Smart. This year we decided to do something different. Martin will be interviewed by one of the knowledgeable jocks from Rock 103. They will discuss some of his industry best practices for touring and promo. But we will also spend some time learning from the crazy missteps Martin took along the way and hear about working with some of the biggest names in rock. Martin Atkins has never been known to hold his tongue so there will be something for every artist and fan.The event is free and open to the public and will be held at HiTone. This event serves as a continuation of Memphis Music Foundation’s mission to provide educational events that help musicians increase their income and build longstanding careers in music.ABOUT THE BACKSTAGE PASS SERIES
Sharing stories, ideas, and techniques in an intimate setting, Backstage Pass events are an essential element for understanding the music business from a 360 degree perspective. Each event includes an experienced moderator to guide the conversation and concludes with a question- and-answer session.
The insight and advice given through the program offers professional career development to individuals and communicates best practices to music business leaders. The Backstage Pass program guests vary from local representatives to visiting artists and industry professionals working or performing in Memphis. Like the MRC itself, Backstage Pass is a rare opportunity for musicians to talk frankly about the realities of the industry with the artists and profession als who can expound on lessons learned from successes and missteps. Attendees get first-hand accounts, and direct answers to the questions that may help guide their careers.ABOUT MARTIN ATKINS
