INTRODUCING THE MEMPHIS MUSIC RESIDENCY
(MEMPHIS, TN) – On the first Tuesday of each month, Minglewood Hall will host the Memphis Music Residency featuring University of Memphis artists. Every month the house band Bluff City Soul Collective will headline the Residency. This month will feature Zuster and Kyndle McMahan.
The nights will wind down, and turn up, with Bluff City Soul Collective, a twelve-piece supergroup formed by students from the University. The ensemble consists of five top vocalists, a three-piece horn section, and a slamming rhythm section. Although it is only their second year playing together under Bluff City as a group, each member has years of musical experience that combined, create an energetic fusion of raw talent.
Sisters Andie and Maggie Owens make up Zuster, a duo currently working day and night on their first album with Blue TOM Records. Zuster will premier some of the electro-acoustic sounds that encompass electronica, folk, and pop. Fans of Grimes, Lana del Rey, and Phantogram dare not miss this set.
Kyndle McMahan is one of the most talked-about, up-and-coming vocalists in Memphis. She’s currently the lead singer for The Memphis Ukelele Band, the Mason Jar Fireflies, and a key member U of M’s Sound Fuzion. On this special occasion, Kyndle will have a solo set and will be backed by Mark Edgar Stuart on bass and a top level six piece band.
