Celebrate the release of Memphis Ukulele Band’s self-titled debut album with a Sunday evening of Ukulele soul at Lafayette’s Music Room!
February 28 | 4 to 7 PM | No cover!
This record of 10 sublimely reimagined covers and 1 original song is the debut release for Memphis Ukulele Band, a collective of Memphis musicians who otherwise stay pretty busy: its members include GRAMMY nominated engineer Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell), Recording Academy senior executive director Jon Hornyak, critically acclaimed artists Mark Edgar Stuart and Jason Freeman, and talented newcomer Kyndle McMahan. The super-group of sorts presents its first album via Blue Barrel Records February 19 – lead single “Valerie,” a cover of The Zutons’ song made famous by Amy Winehouse, is out February 5. In addition to a release show in Memphis, they’ll showcase at Folk Alliance International (February 18-21) and perform on Music City Roots (March 23).
