Brett James has had more than 450 of his songs recorded by some of the biggest recording artists in the world. His songs have appeared on albums with combined sales of over 110 million copies. He has had numerous hit singles including 23 #1’s and won a Grammy in 2006 for “Jesus, Take the Wheel”. He was also named ASCAP’s country songwriter of the year in 2006 and 2010 and Music Row Magazines’ Songwriter of the Year in 2014. In 2014 alone, Brett scored 6 top ten singles including the #1’s “I Hold On” for Dierks Bentley, “Bottoms Up” for Brantley Gilbert, “Something in the Water” for Carrie Underwood, and the smash duet “Something Bad” recorded by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. As a producer, his credits include Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Danielle Bradberry and Kip Moore who scored three consecutive #1 hits in 2012-13.
Brett is currently in his 12th year of service on the board of directors for the Country Music Association and serves on the boards of NSAI and NARAS as well. In addition, Brett is the owner of Cornman Music, a successful music publishing company based in Nashville, TN.
